Summary
Muse is built so that your creative practice stays yours. Everything you track lives on your own device, and if you choose, syncs privately through your personal iCloud account. Vagabond Cove operates no servers for Muse, requires no account or login, and never receives, sees, or stores your data. We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or third-party data collectors of any kind.
In short: we don't collect your data, because we never have access to it.

Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the Muse iOS application ("Muse," "the app") published by Vagabond Cove ("Vagabond Cove," "we," "us," or "our"). It describes how information is handled when you use Muse.
Information you create in the app
Muse stores only the information you choose to enter so the app can function. This includes:
Practices you define — name, chosen icon, accent color, goal type (binary or duration), and frequency settings.
Check-ins — the date a practice was completed, whether it was completed, optional duration in minutes, and an optional single-line note describing what you worked on.
Your Muse — the character variant and color palette you select during onboarding.
App preferences — settings such as appearance (light/dark/system) and per-practice reminder times.
This information is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device data framework (SwiftData). It is created and controlled entirely by you.
Information we do NOT collect
To be explicit, Muse does not collect, request, transmit, or have access to any of the following:
Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials (there are no accounts and no sign-in).
Location data.
Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data.
Device identifiers for advertising or tracking.
Usage analytics, behavioral data, crash telemetry sent to Vagabond Cove, or any third-party SDK data.
Payment or financial information (see "Purchases" below).
Vagabond Cove runs no backend server for Muse and therefore has no technical means to receive your data.
How your data is stored and synced (iCloud / CloudKit)
Muse stores your data on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Muse, your data is automatically synced across your own Apple devices through your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service.
This sync happens directly between your devices and Apple's iCloud infrastructure. Your data is stored in your iCloud account, not on any Vagabond Cove server, and Vagabond Cove cannot access it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). You can disable iCloud sync for Muse at any time in your device's iCloud settings.
How information is used
The information you enter is used solely to provide the app's features on your device: tracking streaks, computing your Muse's visual state, displaying calendars and stats, powering widgets, and scheduling the reminders you set. None of this processing leaves your device or your iCloud account.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Muse schedules local notifications on your device using Apple's notification system. These are generated entirely on-device. There is no push server, and no notification data is sent to Vagabond Cove or any third party. You can disable notifications at any time in the app or in your device's Settings.
Widgets
Muse's Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read your practice and streak data from a shared on-device container in order to display it. This data stays on your device.
Purchases
Muse is a one-time purchase made through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled by Apple, and Vagabond Cove never receives your payment details, billing information, or any personally identifying purchase data. Apple's handling of this information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Muse contains no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no advertising.
Your control over your data
Because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud account, you have full control over it:
Export — You can export all of your check-in data as a CSV file at any time from Settings, for your own records or to move it elsewhere.
Edit or delete — You can edit or delete individual practices and check-ins within the app.
Delete everything — Deleting the app removes its on-device data. To remove synced data from iCloud, you can delete the app's data from your iCloud settings.
Data retention
Vagabond Cove retains none of your data, because it never receives any. Your data persists on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you keep the app installed and choose to retain it.
Children's privacy
Muse does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is not directed at children under 13, and because no data is collected or transmitted to us, no information from children is gathered by Vagabond Cove.
Security
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (such as your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID) and, when synced, by Apple's iCloud security. Because Vagabond Cove stores no copy of your data, there is no Vagabond Cove database that could be breached.
Third parties
The only third party involved in handling any data related to Muse is Apple, through iCloud sync and App Store purchasing, both governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Muse integrates no advertising networks, analytics providers, or other third-party services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new app features or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the current version at its published location. Material changes will be reflected in the app's App Store listing where appropriate.
